A doctoral candidate and leader who is destined for academic and professional success...
She has been greatly influenced by the following thought leaders.
On Leadership:
"A leader is a person who influences individuals and groups within an organisation, helps them establish goals, and guides them toward achievement of those goals, thereby allowing them to be effective. Overall, leaders are effective when their followers achieve their goals, and can function well together, and can adapt to changing demands from external forces (Nahavandi, 2014)."
On the TED talk How great leaders inspire action Simon Sinek says:
“Every single person, every organization on the planet knows what they do, 100 percent. Some know how they do it, whether you call it your differentiated value proposition or your proprietary process. But very, very few people or organizations know why they do what they do. (...) And it is those who start with "why" that have the ability to inspire those around them or find others who inspire them.”
On Educational Technology :
Casson (2001) identified four dominant elements of technology leaders in education: (1) vision, (2) empowering others, (3) modeling technology use, and (4) interacting.
Caverly (1997) suggested teachers become technology leaders only by becoming mentors and providing technology staff development after a period of two or even three years of training on how to use computers in their own curriculum.
On NJCU:
It is at NJCU, that I'm able to combine leadership principles and technological knowledge to become a Caribbean leader in the field of educational technology.
On the Digital Portfolio:
Matt Renwick (2015) highlights the value of digital portfolios. He reveals that by "capturing student learning in the moment, learning is brought to life" (Renwick, 2015, p. 123).
